the Datsun baby, so kids could learn safe driving, and have a hell of a good time at the amusement park

Nissan made a 100 of them, they were for an amusement park in Yokohama that was open from 1965 to 1973. Not riding a rail, kids could drive up to 18mph anywhere on the track.

Amazingly, these two-seater runabouts had a four-wheel independent suspension with front double wishbones! Power came from a 200cc motor, but keep in mind that plenty of actual cars on the road at the time had engines only slightly larger at 360cc. Transmissions were automatic, supplied by Okamura Corporation, the firm that built Japan’s first torque converter, and the steering wheel had a spring-actuated self-turning feature.

Nissan donated 100 Datsun Babys to the park in order to teach children about traffic safety, so they could be safer as future drivers and as pedestrians.

Kiddie Corvette Pedal Car Ballot Box

1956 1957 Eska Corvette Pedal Car - Ballot Box

to win the "King of the Sidewalk Kiddie Corvette" Pedal Car you had to fill out a ballot and drop it in one of these official ballot boxes. This was found in the attic of a Chevrolet Dealership in Norfolk, Virginia.

some history of the pedal Eska Corvette Pedal Cars:

In 1956, General Motors Corporation awarded The Eska Company of Dubuque, Iowa a contract to produce 1/3 size pedal car replicas of their recently redesigned Chevrolet Corvette. Like the full-size car, the smaller, "Kiddie" version featured a molded, almost dent proof, plastic body as well as a real chrome trimmed two-speed transmission and an authentic Corvette colors of white with red interior. With help from GM's Styling department, Eska scaled down the real car's dimensions and the "mini Vette" was said by some at the time to be "dead on" for its dimensions relative to the real thing. These cars were made primarily for dealerships and promotions and were not available to the general public so there is no exact count on how many were produced, could have been as low as 200 or as many as 2000.

Some of the events reportedly using these pedi-powered racers were the 1956 Chevrolet Featurama and the NASCAR Speed Week Performance Trials in Daytona Beach, Florida where children could participate in races for a chance to win a "Kiddie Corvette" of their own and, on a National note, the cars were featured on "The Dinah Shore Show" as part of the "See the USA in Your Chevrolet" contest.

Had you heard of new playgrounds getting built for wheelchair bound kids to use at the same time as kids running around?

Grand Junction Parks and Rec has demolished the old Canyon View park, the new playground will not only update equipment, it will be expanding by over 50-percent of the previous square footage. It will include an area for kids ages two to five, another area for ages five - 12, and then a new fitness area for anyone to use.

The new plans include a zip line and a larger array of equipment for kids to enjoy.

"This will by far be the most accessible playground for all disabilities. We're proud of that fact,” said Schober. “We're proud that we've worked with the play to dream foundation- that was a priority for them to offer as much accessibility for people of all disabilities."

This means wheelchair ramps and replacing wood chips on the ground with rubber surfacing, changes which will allow kids of all ages and abilities to play together in a safe environment.

1922 kids, cops, business men and a street car in Washington DC

It looks like the business guys are cheering on the kids who seem to be running a baton passing and the cops might be acting as a race escort.
